
The Lindenhurst Police Department currently has a force of 26 members which includes the Chief of Police, 3 Commanders, 11 full-time Patrol Officers, 1 full-time Investigator, 4 part-time Patrol Officers, 1 Community and Support Services Coordinator, 1 part-time Community Service Officer, 1 full-time Records Clerk and 3 part-time Record Clerks.
All members are dedicated to providing protection and safety that focus on community-based policing strategies.
The Police Department utilizes a fleet of 8 squad cars, all of which contain VHF mobile radios. Seven of the patrol cars are equipped with mobile computers giving access to state and federal data. A durable, "off road" mountain bicycle is also available for patrol purposes and 2 SUV's w/ 4 wheel drive.
Non-emergency dispatching, clerical services and operation of non-emergency telephone lines are performed within the Lindenhurst facility, 68 hours per week, by internal staff. This results in a period of 100 hours per week in which the non-emergency telephone lines are forwarded to Antioch Dispatch Center who is Lindenhurst's contract service provider. All land line emergency "911" calls are answered directly by the Antioch Dispatch Center. These Calls are then dispatched to the Lindenhurst Police personnel by way of the UHF portable radios, in car mobile data terminals or by telephone when appropriate.
"911" calls made via cellular phones are initially dealt with by the Lake County Sheriff's Office dispatching center, which is located in Libertyville. After determining the nature of the incident, and the appropriate jurisdiction, the call is delivered to the proper dispatch center via the computer aided dispatch system.
Specially assigned officers include, but are not limited to; Major Crimes Task Force, Major Accident Reconstruction team and Gang Task Force.
The Lindenhurst Police Department houses a non-emergency dispatch/records section. All emergency calls (911) are handled through the Antioch Police Department 911 Center. They also operate a TTY system for the hearing impaired.
Major Crimes Task Force
The Lindenhurst Police Department actively participates and mutually assists other agencies investigating major crimes.
Lake County Gang Task Force
The Lindenhurst Police Department actively participates and mutually assists other agencies in receiving and disseminating gang information, along with conducting special anti-gang activities.
Records
The Records Department consists of one full-time Senior Records Clerk and three part-time Clerks. The Records Section of the Lindenhurst Police Department is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and closed on Sundays and holidays.
Copies of reports and/or forms are available for pick up. Normal turn around time for copies of reports is 3-7 business days after requests are forwarded to the records section.
Fees for Traffic Crash Reports are $5.00 (Cash Only)
Fees for incident reports under the Freedom of Information Act are .25 cents per page. Under the F.O.I.A., confidential information will be re-dacted in accordance with the F.O.I.A. rules and regulations.
Investigations
The department has one full-time Investigator. The Investigator is assigned follow-up reports to case incidents involving violent crime, burglaries, fraud, and deceptive practice.
Juvenile Officer
Currently the department has six state-certified officers who are trained as Juvenile Officers.
Truck Enforcement Officer
The Truck Enforcement Officer is trained in the enforcement of overweight trucks travelling the roadways of Lindenhurst.
Bike Patrol
The Lindenhurst Police Department currently has officers trained and equipped to patrol the village with specially designed police mountain bikes. One goal is to enhance contacts with business owners, patrons, and citizens traversing through the village.
Evidence Technician
Currently there are four evidence Technicians. Their duties include, but are not limited to foot imprints, fingerprint examination, evidence collection, crime scene photography.
Traffic Crash Investigator
The Traffic Crash Investigator is a specially trained investigator. He also assists other police agencies through The Major Crash assistance Team.
